Conflict of Interest Statement

POLICY

It is the policy of Urban Youth Alliance International, Inc that Trustees, Officers, committee chairpersons, and all employees may not have a direct or indirect interest , financial or otherwise, in a corporation or business, engage in a professional activity, or incur an obligation of any nature that is in substantial conflict with or might reasonably tend to influence the discharge of the trustee's, officer's, committee member's, employee's official duties.

Urban Youth Alliance expects high standards of integrity of themselves and of other members. If at any time a member believes that he or she may appear to be unable to maintain professional objectivity on any issue, because of a personal situation, employment, or other reasons, the member should recuse himself/herself from any position on the subject. Members must disclose to and discuss with a chairperson questions about possible conflicts of interest. Trustees, Officers, committee chairpersons, and all employees will honor the request for recuse, and no questions will be asked nor explanations requested. An individual may continue to work on all other functions of the activity to the extent he can do so without being in a conflict of interest.

Directors should make all members aware of this policy. Anyone having questions or desiring to discuss or seek further interpretation of this policy should contact their respective supervisor. This includes situations wherein a significant dispute may arise over whether a member should be required to recuse himself/herself. Any director, upon sensing or being advised of a possible conflict of interest, should not proceed with deliberation on an issue until there has been an opportunity to resolve possible conflicts of interest on the part of participating members.
